School Profile

Known for its equestrian tradition, Fauquier County lies in the heart of horse and wine country at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northern Virginia.  Auburn Middle School is one of 5 middle schools in the Fauquier County Public School system.  It is located in the suburban community of Warrenton approximately 45 miles west southwest of Washington, D.C..

SCHOOL OVERVIEW

Auburn Middle School is the newest middle school in the Fauquier County Public School system having opened its doors in 2004.  Our instructional team includes over 50 teachers, counselors, instructional assistants and administrators educating approximately 575 students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

Students follow a seven period schedule which includes Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Science and Physical Education daily. 

Several high school credit courses are available for those students whose test scores, grades, scholastic history, abilities and teacher recommendations indicate propriety: 

  • Spanish I (8th grade only)
  • French I (8th grade only)
  • Algebra I (7th and 8th grade)
  • Geometry (8th grade only)

Advanced English placement is available in all grades. 

In addition to advanced offerings Auburn offers several support opportunities. 

Auburn also offers an extensive music program for all grades including:

  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade band
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade orchestra
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade chorus

100-90   =   A

89-80   =   B

79-70   =   C

69-60   =    D

Below 60    =   Fail

 

Fauquier County Public Schools employ a standard 10 point scale.  Pluses and minuses are not assigned.

EXTRACURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES OVERVIEW

A variety of athletic opportunities are provided through interscholastic competition, school-based intramural programs and clubs.  A partial list includes: CoEd Cross Country, soccer (boys’ and girls’), volleyball, softball, baseball and basketball (boys’ and girls’).

A variety of non-athletic interests are supported through clubs including but not limited to:
